Jock itch is a fungal infection in the groin area. It is a part of the group Tinea and is also called Tinea cruris. Moist and warm areas are a perfect environment for the growth of a fungus. So, the groin area is at risk of getting infected. This may spread to the inner thighs as well. It causes an itchy rash which is usually ring shaped. The name Jock itch comes from the fact that people who sweat a lot are prone to getting this infection, and usually athletes come in this category.

It causes distinctive looking rashes on the skin. Some time blisters occur and get filled with fluid. It causes a lot of itching which can be highly embarrassing.

It is usually not a serious disease and goes away on its own if care is taken.
The symptoms are red rash, itching, burning sensation, redness on groin or thighs, sores and blisters, cracking and peeling of skin.

Avoid wearing nylon and similar material clothing which can restrict air movement and result in infections.
